Current Context: Microsoft has teamed up with satellite operator named SpaceX with an aim to provide uninterrupted Azure service to its customers.
Microsoft partners with SpaceX to connect Azure Platform to Satellites
  • This partnership is made to target space customers.
  • Microsoft’s partnership with SpaceX Starlink will provide high speed with an minimum latency for satellite broadband service for Microsoft’s Azure Modular Datacenter. 
  • For this purpose, Microsoft has formed a team of space industry veterans so that they can collaboratively work with product engineers and scientist.
  • The Microsoft team and product engineers and scientist will be developing cloud capabilities which will lead to space exploration.
  • They will work in innovation areas related to space missions, discovering insights from satellite data and to fuel innovation at the ground as well as orbit level.
  • Once the space mission gets coupled with Azure’s high-performance computing platform, machine learning and data analytics abilities for satellites will then open new opportunities for organisations.
