1st Fisheries Award

Current Context: The Department of Fisheries under the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying presented the Fisheries Sector Award on the occasion of the ‘World Fisheries Day’.

• The awards were given to recognize the achievements in the associated field and their contribution to the growth of the fisheries sector.
• The Department of Fisheries under the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying awarded best performing States, Organisations and Districts for 2019-2020.
• Category of Top States: Odisha (Marine States), Uttar Pradesh (Inland States) and Assam (Hilly and NE states ).
• Category of Top Organisations: Tamil Nadu Fisheries Development Corporation Ltd. (Marine), Telangana State Fishermen Cooperative societies Federation Ltd (Inland) and Assam Apex Cooperative Fish Marketing and Processing Federation Ltd ( Hilly region).
• Category of Top Districts: Krishna District, Andhra Pradesh (Marine District), Kalahandi, Odisha (Inland District) and Nagaon, Assam (Hilly and NE District).
