Fortified Rice Distribution Scheme--Chhattisgarh

Current Context: The Chhattisgarh government has launched Fortified Rice Distribution Scheme.

• The scheme was launched to mark the occasion of Statehood Day celebrations.
• The aim of this scheme is to reduce malnutrition and anaemia.
• Under this scheme, fortified rice will be distributed through the Public Distribution System (PDS). This fortified rice is comprised of Vitamin-B12, iron and folic acid which helps to control malnutrition and anaemia.
• The scheme was launched in Kondagaon district of Chhattisgarh.
