Current Context: India and the United States of America has entered into MoU to enhance cooperation in Intellectual Property (IP).

  • Under this MoU, both the nations will be drafting a work plan to deepen IP Cooperation.
  • Both the nations will collaborate to conduct training and information exchange in order to have best practices in IP protection.
  • This MoU is a one-step forward for India towards becoming a major player in global innovation and will also lead to achieving the objectives of National IPR Policy, 2016.
  • The MoU was signed by Guruprasad Mohapatra, Secretary of Commerce Ministry and Andrei Iancu, Under Secretary, US Patent and Trademark Office.
