Current Context: The PASSEX (Passage) Exercise 2020 was held between the Indian Navy and Russian Federation Navy.
PASSEX Exercise 2020
  • The PASSEX exercise was held in the Eastern Indian Ocean Region.
  • Aim of this exercise was to increase interoperability, improve understanding and imbibe best practices in both nations.
  • In this exercise, both the navies practised weapon firing, advanced surface warfare exercise and advanced anti-submarine exercise, helicopter operations, seamanship exercises.
  • Indian Navy was represented by: Anti-submarine corvette Kadmatt, indigenously built guided missile frigate Shivalik and integral helicopters. 
  • Russian Navy was represented by: Anti-submarine Admiral Panteleyev and medium ocean tanker Pechenga and guided-missile cruiser Varyag.
