Current Context: India and Uzbekistan has entered into nine agreements in a virtual summit held to discuss bilateral relations of both nations.
India-Uzbekistan Sign 9 Pacts
  • During the summit, various bilateral talks were held between Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
  • They discussed extremism, terrorism and radicalism.
  • They signed an agreement to combat the threat of terrorism by “destroying” terrorist safe-havens, networks and funding channels.
  • They also signed agreements in the field of renewable energy, Digital Technologies, Community development projects, cybersecurity, and digital technologies.
  • Also, India has approved $448 million of Line of Credit for four development projects in Uzbekistan. This fund will be utilized for development in sewerage treatment, road construction and Information Technology.
