‘Varasat’ Campaign: Uttar Pradesh

Current Context: The Uttar Pradesh Government launched a ‘Varasat’ Campaign.

• Basically, the ‘Varasat’ Campaign signifies natural succession campaign.
• It is launched to tackle disputes related to property & land in rural areas of the state. 
• The campaign aims to put an end to the issues related to land and eradicate the exploitation of the villagers over succession rights by land mafias, who generally target disputed properties.
• The campaign will be conducted till 15th Feb 2020.
• Under this campaign, the people living in rural areas will be given facilities in online as well as the offline mode to enrol in this campaign.
• The campaign will also work for the people who have landed in the village but they are living at some other place, a special counter will be opened at the Tehsil-level where they can apply for the same.
• The ‘Varasat’ Campaign will help people with proper documentation of their land and property which will be the proof for them and will also allow them to avail loan from the banks.
