Current Context: The 7th Trade Policy Review of India was recently conducted at the World Trade Organization (WTO) in Geneva.
7th TPR of India Held at WTO
  • The TPR is a mechanism which comes under WTO's monitoring function. Under this mechanism, WTO examines trade and policies of member countries.
  • At the 7th TRP of India, the Indian delegation was represented by Anup Wadhawan, Commerce Secretary.
  • During this session of TPR, WTO released the report which mentioned that India’s economic growth is at 7.4% from 2015-20.
  • The report also highlighted that various measures like simplification of procedures, customs clearance for import and exports have led to facilitate trade activities in India.
  • India was also acknowledged for the introduction of Goods and Service Tax and Ease of Doing Business ability.
