Current Context: The tri-service joint amphibious exercise named AMPHEX – 21 was conducted by the Indian Army, Indian Navy and Indian Air Force.
AMPHEX – 21
  • The exercise was held in the Andaman and Nicobar group of islands.
  • The aim behind conducting AMPHEX – 21 exercise was to validate and enhance India’s capabilities to protect its territorial integrity.
  • It also aimed to boost the operational synergy and joint warfighting capabilities of the three services.
  • The tri-services executed multi-domain and high-intensity based offensive as well as defensive manoeuvres in Bay of Bengal and the Andaman Sea.
  • They conducted multi-faceted maritime operation by employing amphibious assault ships, surveillance platforms and complex manoeuvres at sea.
  • The Airborne insertion of Marine Commandos of Navy and Special Forces of the Army, naval gunfire support, the amphibious landing of forces and follow-on operations were also the part of the exercise.
