Current Context: The Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) recently launched the Asia-Pacific Personalised Health Index.
Asia-Pacific Personalised Health Index
  • The index is first-of-its-kind and is a tool to analyse the readiness of eleven health systems in the Asia-Pacific region.
  • This index enables to adopt personalized healthcare systems and measures.
  • India ranked at 10th position with a score of 41 in health information indicator.
  • India is at 11th rank position with a score of 24 in health services indicator.
  • Also, the rank of India is at 9th position with a score of 30 in Personalised Technologies indicator category. This indicator considers the devices, applications, platforms and reimbursement structures associated with the healthcare sector.
  • Overall rank of India is 10th position out of 11 health systems.
  • The index is topped by Singapore among all the 11 health systems.
  • The second and third positions are marked by Taiwan and Japan respectively.
  • The index ranking was calculated by analyzing performance across 27 major indicators associated with personalised health across 4 categories which are called ‘Vital Signs’.
  • The ‘Vital Signs’ are Policy Context, Health Information, Personalised Technologies and Health Services.
