Current Context: India is selected to co-chair the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) supported by Asia Protected Areas Partnership (APAP).
India to Co-Chair IUCN Supported APAP
  • It is basically a regional forum which conserves the wildlife habitats.
  • India is selected to co-chair this forum for the tenure of 3 years i.e. till Nov 2023. 
  • India will be replacing South Korea which held this position for the last 3 years. 
  • Under this co-chairmanship, India will assist other Asian nations to manage and conserve the wildlife protected areas. 
  • The APAP is chaired by IUCN Asia and co-chaired by an APAP member nation on a rotational basis.
