Current Context: The Jammu and Kashmir administration has entered into MoU with National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India Ltd (NAFED).
J&K Government Signed MoU with NAFED
  • They have entered into MoU for the purpose of increasing marketing for Horticulture produce in the UT.
  • Both will work coordinately for branding and marketing of fruit crops and establish market exposure to non-seasonal vegies and flowers in Indian metro cities. 
  • Under this MoU, NAFED will offer financial support of Rs 1700 crores to implement high-density plantations like apple, walnuts, cherry pear flowers across 5500 hectares in upcoming 5 years.
  • The NAFED will also establish 20 FPOs in J&K.
  • The partnership will also lead to construct cold storage clusters in North Kashmir, South Kashmir and Kathua at the estimated cost of Rs 500 crores.
