Current Context: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated 306 km long Rewari-Madar section of the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (WDFC).

  • Along with this, PM Modi also flagged off the world’s first 1.5 km long double-stack long haul container train between New Ateli in Haryana and New Kishangarh in Rajasthan.
  • About Rewari-Madar section of WDFC: The section is situated in Haryana and Rajasthan. It consists of 9 dedicated freight corridors stations among which 6 are crossing stations and 3 of them are junction stations. The six crossing stations are New Dabla, New Bhagega, New Sri Madhopur, New Pachar Malikpur, New Sakun and New Kishangarh and three junction stations are at New Rewari, New Ateli and New Phulera. This Rewari-Madar section of WDFC will prove beneficial to many industries of both the states of Haryana and Rajasthan and will also enable better usage of the container depot of the CONCOR at Kathuwas.
