‘SAKSHAM’ Campaign—Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas

Current Context: The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas launched a ‘SAKSHAM’ Campaign.

• SAKSHAM signifies Sanrakshan Kshamata Mahotsav.
• It is a one-month-long campaign which will create awareness for clean and green energy. 
• The SAKSHAM Campaign is organised by the Petroleum Conservation Research Association (PCRA).
• The campaign will highlight adverse effects on health and environment due to the increase in carbon levels and will motivate the community to switch to cleaner fuels.
• Under this campaign, various activities will be held like: Cyclothon, farmer workshops, seminars, painting competitions, CNG vehicle driving contests.
• The campaign will spread awareness about 7 key drivers framed by PM Modi to adopt clean and green energy namely: Gas-based economy, cleaner use of fossil fuels, greater reliance on domestic sources, achieving renewable targets within the set deadlines, increased use of electric vehicles to decarbonize mobility, increased use of cleaner fuels like Hydrogen, and digital innovation across all energy systems.
