Goa to Become Fisheries Hub of India

Current Context: The Union Fisheries Minister Giriraj Singh announced to invest funds in Goa in order to make Goa a fisheries hub of India.

• In this regards, he announced to make an investment of Rs 400 crore in the fisheries sector of Goa.
• The fund's amount will be raised by the Union government and the state fisheries board.
• Out of this total funds, Rs 41.47 crore are already sanctioned by the Union Government to revive the fisheries and provide safety in fishing in Goa.
• The funds will be utilised to create 30 fish landing jetties which will enable fishermen to anchor their boats near the villages. These jetties will be linked to the mainstream by constructing roads.
