Instant Messaging Platform ‘Sandes’

Current Context: The National Informatics Centre (NIC) has launched an instant messaging platform called ‘Sandes’. It is similar to WhatsApp.

  • It is the upgraded version of NIC’s Government Instant Messaging System (GIMS) app.
  • The app can be used for all types of communication by anyone having either a mobile number or an email address.
  • The app is also an initiative by NIC to give a boost to Indian made software
