Current Context: The Ministry of Education (MoE), Department of Economic Affairs (DEA) and World Bank signed the financial support agreement for STARS Project.

  • The STARS signifies Strengthening Teaching-Learning and Results for States, which belongs to the Ministry of Education.
  • The funds allotted for this project is Rs 5,718 crore.
  • World Bank to offer financial support of Rs 3700 crore and the rest of the funds will be raised by the states for the period of 5 years.
  • The main moto of the STARS Project is ‘Education for All’.
  • It will be implemented as a new Centrally Sponsored Scheme under the Department of School Education and Literacy (DoSEL), Ministry of Education.
  • The STARS Project is launched for 6 states namely: Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Kerala and Odisha.
