2nd Global Bio-India-2021

Current Context: The 2nd Global-Bio India 2021 was inaugurated by Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare & Science and Technology Dr Harsh Vardhan in New Delhi in a virtual manner.

• The theme of the event: ‘Transforming Lives’ with the tagline ‘Biosciences to Bio-economy’.
• The Global-Bio India 2021 aims to showcase the importance of the biotechnology sector of India at the National and International Level.
• The event was organised by the Department of Biotechnology under the Ministry of Science & Technology along with PSU Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (BIRAC), Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Association of Biotechnology Led Enterprises (ABLE) and Invest India.
• GOI has set a target to build a USD 150 billion bio-economy by 2025.
• During this event, 24 sessions were conducted to define the role of Biotechnology. The few of the sessions were, The COVID-19 vaccine journey from Science to delivery, India Fights COVID, Health Conclave, Clean Energy Conclave, Phytopharma and Traditional Knowledge etc.
