Current Context: The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has collaborated with IIT Bombay.

  • They have collaborated to set up a Centre of Excellence in gaming and allied areas.
  • The Union Minister Prakash Javadekar made the announcement for same at the virtual exhibition and prize announcement of ‘Khel Khel Mein’. The ‘Khel Khel Mein’ in Maharashtra’s toy and game project design competition.
  • The CoE for gaming will come into effect as the new session begins in 2021.
  • The CoE is being set up with an aim to develop India’s own games and apps with an aim to fulfil the motto of ‘Make in India initiative’.
