Interaction Session with Fishermen Community

Current Context: The seven teams of personnel from the Indian Navy, Coast Guard District Headquarters 6, Coastal Security Police of Andhra Pradesh and representatives of the State

Fisheries Department held an interactive session with the fishermen communities.

• The session was held to start the celebrations of the 75th Anniversary of Independence of India.
• The fishermen community from the coastal areas of Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, East Godavari, Guntur, Prakasam and Nellore participated in the interaction.
• At the session, the dignitaries informed the fishermen community about the historical significance of 12 March. In 1930, on this day Mahatma Gandhi started ‘Dandi March’ as part of the civil disobedience movement against the British salt monopoly.
• The objective behind the interaction session was to build friendly relations with the fishermen community and to acknowledge their role for being the ‘eyes and ears of the Armed Forces, thus supporting the Armed Forces in maintaining the coastal security along the coast of Andhra Pradesh.
