MP and UP signed MoU with Jal Shakti Ministry

Current Context: The governments of Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh signed MoU with Union Jal Shakti Ministry.

• The MoU was signed to implement the Ken-Betwa river interlinking project.
• The Ken-Betwa river interlinking project will carry water from surplus regions to drought prone and water-scarce regions through interlinking of rivers.
• The water will be transferred from Ken river in Panna district in Madhya Pradesh to Betwa river in Uttar Pradesh by constructing the Dhaudan Dam and a 221 km-long canal.
• The project will prove beneficial to districts of Jhansi, Mahoba, Lalitpur and Hamirpur of Uttar Pradesh.
