Current Context: The Indian Navy and the United States Navy conducted Passage Exercise i.e. ‘PASSEX’.

  • The naval exercise was held in the Eastern Indian Ocean Region (Bay of Bengal).
  • This is the first time that Indian Air Force fighters were part of this exercise.
  • The Indian side was represented by warship ‘Shivalik’ and P8I, a long-range maritime patrol aircraft.
  • The US side was represented by the USS Theodore Roosevelt Carrier Strike Group.
  • The objective behind PASSEX is to develop cooperation and interoperability among the forces.
