‘Anamaya’

Current Context: The Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Dr Harsh Vardhan and Union Minister of Tribal Affairs, Arjun Munda launched ‘Anamaya’.

• ‘Anamaya’ is the Tribal Health Collaborative.
• It is a multi-stakeholder initiative that is supported by Piramal Foundation and Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF).
• It is launched to boost the nutritional and health status of the tribal communities of India by converging efforts of various Government agencies and organisations.
• Under this ‘Anamaya’ initiative, the ministries will form National Council on Tribal Health.
• This National Council on Tribal Health Cell will track and monitor the delivery of healthcare facilities upto the tribal community and will thus devise mechanisms to implement the Tribal Health Action Plan.
