Union Minister Piyush Goyal Launched SISFS

Current Context: Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal launched the Startup India Seed Fund Scheme (SISFS).

• The SISFS aims to grant financial assistance to the startups for prototype development, proof of development, market-entry, commercialization, and product trials.
• The scheme will prove beneficial to domestic entrepreneurs and startups. The scheme will help to implement all those business ideas which the entrepreneurs are unable to implement because of a shortage of capital.
• The SISFS will grant seed funding, support the transformative ideas, inspire innovation and implement the ideas.
• The funds of Rs 945 crore has been allocated for the scheme and will benefit around 3,600 startups particularly in tier-2 and 3 cities.
• The Expert Advisory Committee is formed which will monitor the execution of the SISFS.
