Current Context: The World Economic Forum (WEF) has released the Global Gender Gap Report 2021. This is the 15th edition of the report.
WEF’s Global Gender Gap Report 2021
  • As per the report, India is ranked at 140th position among 156 countries, with a score of 0.625.
  • Iceland has topped the ranking with a score of 0.892.
  • The second and third positions are marked by Finland and Norway respectively.
  • The report was drafted based on the evolution of gender-based gaps among 4 key factors like Economic Participation and Opportunity, Educational Attainment, Health and Survival and Political Empowerment.
  • India’s ranking in each of the key factor was: (a) Economic Participation and Opportunity (Rank 151) (b) Educational Attainment (Rank 114) (c) Health and Survival (Rank 155) (d) Political Empowerment (Rank 51).
  • The lowest rank of 156th was attained by Afghanistan.
