Current Context: Chief Minister of Odisha, Naveen Patnaik launched the ‘Ashirbad’ Scheme.
‘Ashirbad’ Scheme-- Odisha
  • The scheme aims to provide financial support to the orphan children of the state who have lost either or both parents due to Coronavirus.
  • Under the scheme, Rs 2,500 per month will be provided to the children who have lost both parents due to coronavirus and Rs 1500 per month to those who have lost a single parent due to the coronavirus on or after 1st April 2020.
  • The amount will be transferred to the bank accounts of the guardians or caretakers of such children. The amount will be transferred till they attain the age of 18.
  • The CM of the state also announced that children will be able to avail benefits under the state’s green passage scheme for higher education, Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana which will allow them to avail free medical services, central and state food security scheme.
