Current Context: Prime Minister, Narendra Modi launched the E-100 pilot project in Pune, Maharashtra.

  • He launched three E100 ethanol dispensing stations in Pune.
  • The E-100 pilot project aims to develop a network for the production and distribution of ethanol all over India.
  • During the launching ceremony, PM Modi also launched ‘Report of the Expert Committee on Road Map for ethanol blending in India 2020-2025’.
  • The report describes a detailed roadmap for the development of the ethanol sector in India.
  • He addressed the event by mentioning that ethanol is the important priority of 21st century India and the focus will be made on it to get its better impact on the environment as well as on the lives of farmers.
