Current Context: The Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) has published Global Liveability Index 2021.
Global Liveability Index 2021
  • The data for the survey was conducted from 22nd Feb 2020 to 21st March 2021.
  • New Zealand and Australian cities have dominated the Global Liveability Index 2021 because of their strong response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • Auckland of New Zealand has been named as best in the Global Liveability Index 2021 rankings because of the ability of New Zealand city to contain Covid-19 at a faster rate.
  • Japan’s cities namely, Osaka and Tokyo are marked at 2nd and 4th positions in the rankings respectively.
  • The 3rd rank is marked by Adelaide of Australia.
  • The least liveable cities in the world are Damascus of Syria.
