India and Fiji signed MoU

Current Context: India and Fiji entered into an MoU agreement to develop cooperation in the field of agriculture and allied sectors.
India and Fiji signed MoU
  • The MoU was signed by the Union Minister for Agriculture Narendra Singh Tomar and Fiji's Minister of Agriculture, Waterways & Environment Mahendra Reddy in a virtual manner.
  • The tenure of MoU is 5 years and will prove to be a milestone in strengthening the multi-faceted cooperation between both nations.
  • The MoU will impart cooperation in the areas like dairy and rice industry development, root crop diversification, water resources management, coconut industry development, food processing industry development, agriculture mechanisation, horticulture industry Development, Agri research, Animal Husbandry, pest and disease, value addition and marketing, post-harvest and milling, breeding and agronomy.
  • The execution of the MoU will be undertaken by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare, Government of India and the Ministry of Agriculture, Government of the Republic of Fiji.
