- The main motto behind conducting CORPAT between India and Thailand is to enhance maritime linkages between them and secure international trade in this important part of the Indian Ocean.
- The exercise will also help the Indian Navy’s efforts to consolidate interoperability and develop strong bonds of friendship with the Royal Thai Navy.
- The CORPAT restricts unlawful activities like Illegal Unreported Unregulated (IUU) fishing, drug trafficking, maritime terrorism, armed robbery and piracy. It allows the exchange of information to prevent smuggling, illegal immigration, and SAR operations at sea.
