NATO Summit 2021

Current Context: The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Summit was held in Brussels, Belgium.

• The meet was the 31st edition of formal discussion among the heads of state and heads of government of the NATO alliance.
• During the meet, the leaders agreed to have the ‘NATO 2030 Agenda’.
• The ‘NATO 2030 Agenda’ will be a comprehensive initiative that will ensure that NATO is ready to face any future challenges.
• The agenda will strengthen political consultation, the resilience of society, reinforce defence and deterrence.
• It will also develop a technological edge for the members of the NATO Alliance.
• The ‘NATO 2030 Agenda’ will enhance the next strategic concept before the next summit which is to be held in 2022.
• The leaders also agreed to a new cyber defence policy in order to have secured political consultations, technological capabilities and military planning.
