Current Context: The tech giant, Microsoft officially launched its new Windows operating system ‘Windows 11’.

  • The ‘Windows 11’ is termed as the next generation of Windows.
  • It focuses on a new user interface, a new Windows Store with improvement in its performance compared to ‘Windows 10’ which was launched in July 2015.
  • The ‘Windows 11’ includes a centre-aligned Taskbar and Start button.
  • It also supports Android apps via Amazon’s app store and also works efficiently in touch mode.
  • It will be available as a free upgrade for Windows 10 users in late 2021, required that the user has a compatible PC.
  • It will be operated on PCs having a processor that has two or more cores and a clock speed of 1GHz or higher.
  • To use the policy, the tenure is 1 year with a waiting period of 90 days.
