MOIL, MP Gov. and MPSMCL signed MoU

Current Context: The Tripartite MoU was signed among the Madhya Pradesh government, State-owned MOIL and the Madhya Pradesh State Mining Corporation Ltd (MPSMCL) to explore manganese ore mining in 4 districts of MP.

• The manganese ore mining will be explored in districts like Balaghat, Jabalpur, Jhabua, and Chhindwara.
• Under the MoU, MOIL has commenced detailed remote sensing studies with the help of the National Remote Sensing Centre (NRSC-ISRO) based in Hyderabad to identify manganese-bearing areas.
• The MOIL has also commenced extensive fieldwork, activities, geological mapping sampling, and their petrological and chemical analysis for delineation of manganese ore-bearing areas which are highlighted by NRSC.
• The state government will help to reserve the areas of exploration for MOIL and MPSMCL.
