World Bank, GOI and Gov. of Mizoram entered into Loan Agreement

Current Context: The World Bank, Government of India and Government of Mizoram have entered into a loan agreement for Mizoram Health Systems Strengthening Project.

• The GOI and the Government of Mizoram have signed a $32 million loan agreement with World Bank.
• The project aims to improve the management capacity and quality of health services in Mizoram.
• The project will benefit under-served areas and vulnerable groups of the state.
• It will improve governance and the management structure of the Department of Health and Family Welfare (DoHFW) and its subsidiaries of the state.
• The loan amount will be used to improve the quality and coverage facilities of health services to the communities of the state.
• The state government will also use the loan amount to invest in a comprehensive Quality Assurance program that will deliver the certified health facilities.
• The loan amount will be used to build synergies with the GOI’s Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojna (PMJAY) and thus will reduce the financial burden of the people to access health services.
