APEDA signed MoU with NAFED

Current Context: The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) signed an MoU with the National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India Ltd (NAFED).

• The MoU was signed to help the exporters with the assistance under various government schemes and to help cooperatives to sell their products globally and enhance their building capacity.
• The facilitation of exports will be granted by APEDA and NAFED will be the promotion entity.
• Both the entities will work jointly in the agriculture and allied areas in order to offer better value to the stakeholders.
• Both the entities will address the issues faced by exporters in areas like technology, quality products, access to the markets etc.
• They will also support engaging agricultural cooperatives in order to improve the quality of agri-produce and consolidate it for better price realization to farmers.
• Under the MoU, exports by cooperatives, FPOs, partners, and affiliates designated under NAFED would be made easier under APEDA.
• Due to this partnership, it will also become easy for the Farmers' Cooperatives to participate in global trade, B2B and B2C fairs in India and abroad. They will be benefited from the partnership with foreign business entities in order to grow the business.
• Both the entities will also support Cooperative Societies and Self-Help Groups (SHGs) for social and environmental compliance and enhancing their skillsets in accordance with international standards.
