Indian Navy received 10th Anti-Submarine Warfare Aircraft P-8I

Current Context: Indian Navy has received the 10th anti-submarine warfare aircraft P-8I from Boeing which is a US-based aerospace company.

• The Ministry of Defence had signed a contract for eight P-8I aircraft in 2009 and in 2016 the contract for four additional P-8I aircraft was signed.
• The rest of the two aircraft are expected to be delivered in the last quarter of 2021.
• The P-8I aircraft will be used to assist during disaster relief & humanitarian missions.
• It is a long-range maritime reconnaissance, Anti-Submarine Warfare and patrol Aircraft.
• It is designed to protect the vast coastline and territorial waters of India.
