16 National Highway Projects in Manipur

Current Context: The Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways, Nitin Gadkari inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for 16 national highway projects in Manipur.

• The total cost of the projects is Rs 4,148 crores and will cover the length of 298 km.
• The projects will provide all-weather connectivity to the Northeastern state with the rest part of the country.
• The projects will help to enhance the industrial, agriculture, and socio-economic sector of the region.
• Also, emergency service and healthcare support will be availed if the road network is strong.
• There will be also an increase in employment and self-employment opportunities. It will also increase the tourism sector in the region.
• The expansion of the road network in Manipur will be recommended under Bharatmala Phase II.
