Current Context: The NTPC REL which is the arm of State-run power giant NTPC signed an MoU with the Union Territory of Ladakh.
NTPC REL signed a MoU with the UT of Ladakh
  • The MoU was signed to set up India’s first green Hydrogen Mobility project in the UT of Ladakh.
  • The MoU will allow NTPC to support Ladakh to develop a carbon-free economy that is based on renewable resources and green hydrogen. This will fulfil PM Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Carbon Neutral’ Ladakh.
  • The NTPC has set up a plan to ply five hydrogen buses in the UT and to set up a solar plant and a green hydrogen generation unit in Leh. This will make Leh the first city in the country to implement a green hydrogen-based mobility project.
