  • RBI to introduce ‘Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC)’ in a phased manner. Therefore, the central bank is working on how to implement it in a phased manner by examining various cases. This will help to examine CBDC’s pros and cons.

  • Philippines: It has become the first country across the globe to get approval for the commercial production of ‘golden rice’, which is genetically modified, enriched with nutrients and helps to reduce childhood malnutrition. The ‘golden rice’ is developed by the Department of Agriculture-Philippine Rice Research Institute (DA-PhilRice) and the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI). It is enriched with Vitamin A.
