- The Indian Naval Ship (INS) Talwar is representing India in the exercise. It visited Mombasa, Kenya to participate in the exercise.
- The exercise is being held along the East Coast of Africa.
- The exercise is sponsored by US Africa Command and is being conducted by US Naval Forces Africa.
- It is being held with an objective to improve combined maritime law enforcement capacity, enhance maritime security and enhance interoperability between the regional navies.
- It will enhance maritime security in East Africa and the Western Indian Ocean.
- For this year, the participating countries are Comoros, India, Kenya, Georgia, Rwanda, Seychelles, Mozambique, UK, Tanzania, Sudan, Somalia, Djibouti and the US.
- Also, the organisations like International Maritime Organisation (IMO), United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), Interpol, European Union Naval Force (EUNAVFOR), Critical Maritime Routes Indian Ocean (CRIMARIO) and EUCAP Somalia are part of the exercise.
- Also, India’s Information Fusion Centre – Indian Ocean Region (IFC-IOR) will also be participating in the exercise.
- The participants will conduct various operations to enhance maritime security and will focus on information sharing and information flow between various partner countries.
