Current Context: The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) developed high strength metastable beta titanium alloy.
High Strength Titanium Alloy-- DRDO
  • It is developed for application in aerospace structural forgings. It will be used to manufacture intricate components of aerospace.
  • It is basically developed by DRDO’s lab called Defence Metallurgical Research Laboratory (DMRL) which is based in Hyderabad.
  • The beta titanium alloy is unique as it possesses higher strength, ductility, fatigue, and fracture toughness.
  • They have superior corrosion resistance in comparison to steel.
  • This alloy can be used in various ways that include slat and flap tracks, landing gears and drop links in landing gear etc.
