‘NBDriver’--- IIT Madras

Current Context: The Researchers of the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) has developed an Artificial Intelligence (AI) tool called ‘NBDriver (Neighbourhood Driver)’.
‘NBDriver’--- IIT Madras
  • The tool will be used to analyse the cancer-causing mutations in cells.
  • The ‘NBDriver’ is a mathematical model based AI tool. It is basically termed as an AI algorithm that can detect changes in cells that cause cancer.
  • It makes use of leveraging DNA composition which helps to identify genetic alterations responsible for cancer-causing. This methodology is different from the current methodologies.
  • By understanding the ongoing mechanism of these alterations, will help the doctors to identify the most appropriate treatment strategy for a patient in an approach known as ‘precision oncology.’
  • Therefore NBDriver is a prediction algorithm that differentiates between passenger and driver mutations using the features derived from the neighbourhood sequences of somatic mutations.
