Current Context: The Union Government will launch the ‘NIPUN Bharat Mission’.

• The ‘NIPUN Bharat Mission’ is a new scheme to improve numeracy, foundational reading, and understanding for early-stage students.
• It will offer to enable the environment to ensure the universal acquisition of foundational literacy and numeracy.
• Due to this scheme, every child will be able to attain desired learning competencies in reading, writing, and numeracy by the end of Grade 3, by 2026-27.
• The significance of NIPUN is the ‘National Initiative for Proficiency in reading with Understanding and Numeracy’.
• It will be implemented by the school education department of the Union government.
• The five-tier implementation mechanism for the scheme will be framed across national, state, district, block, and school levels in all states and UTs of India.
