Online Course Mobile App ‘Matsya Setu’

Current Context: The Union Minister for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Giriraj Singh launched a mobile app called ‘Matsya Setu’.

• It is an Online Course Mobile App that was launched for Indian Aqua Farmers.
• The app was developed by the ICAR-Central Institute of Freshwater Aquaculture (ICAR-CIFA), Bhubaneswar and the funds for the same was received from National Fisheries Development Board (NFDB), Hyderabad.
• The app aims to disseminate the latest freshwater aquaculture technologies to the aqua farmers of the country.
• The app displays data in species-wise/ subject-wise patterns and offers self-learning online course modules. The modules are divided into small video chapters. Also, the Quiz/Test options are provided for self-assessment.
• The modules include renowned aquaculture experts who explain basic concepts and practical demonstrations on breeding, seed production and grow-out culture of commercially important fishes like carp, catfish, scampi, murrel, ornamental fish, pearl farming etc.
• The app also displays data related to the practices inculcated in maintaining the soil & water quality, feeding and health management in aquaculture operations.
• After completing the module and course, an e-Certificate can be auto-generated.
