11th Annual Meeting of FEMBoSA

Current Context: The 11th Annual meeting of the Forum of the Election Management Bodies of South Asia (FEMBoSA) for 2021 was inaugurated by Chief Election Commissioner of India and current Chairman, FEMBoSA Sushil Chandra who was accompanied by Election Commissioners Rajeev Kumar and A.C. Pandey.

• The meeting was held in a virtual manner and was hosted by the Election Commission of Bhutan.
• Other countries like Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal and Sri Lanka also participated in the meeting with India.
• Being the outgoing Chair of FEMBoSA, Sushil Chandra, virtually handed over the Chairmanship of FEMBoSA to H.E. Dasho Sonam Topgay, Chief Election Commissioner of Bhutan.
• The meeting was held under the theme of ‘Use of Technology in Elections’.
• The FEMBoSA is a part of the democratic world and is a cooperative unit of association of election management bodies. It aims to enhance cooperation in respect of SAARC’s Election Management Bodies.
