- At the meet, the union minister mentioned the measures taken by GOI in preserving the agro-biodiversity through National Gene banks for plants, animals, fish, insects, and agriculturally important microorganisms.
- He also mentioned that India is working to adopt programs such as pulses, oilseeds, horticultural crops, National Bamboo Mission. He highlighted National Palm Oil Mission which was recently launched.
- The dignitaries discussed the BRICS Agriculture Research Platform (BARP) which will boost cooperation in domains like agricultural research, extension, technology transfer, training, and capacity building.
- Also, the Action Plan of 2021-24 was adopted to enhance agricultural cooperation among BRICS nations. The action plan is based on various themes like food security, the welfare of farmers, conservation of agrobiodiversity, the resilience of food and agricultural production systems, promotion of digital agricultural solutions, etc.
