- Total nine new judges, including three women, took the oath of office as judges of the Supreme Court by Chief Justice of India (CJI) NV Ramana.
- With this, the SC strength went upto 33, including CJI.
- Following are the details for the newly appointed 9 judges:
- Justice Vikram Nath: He was the chief justice of the Gujarat High Court and is in line to become the CJI after the retirement of sitting top court judge Justice Surya Kant in February 2027.
- Justice BV Nagarathna: She was a judge of the Karnataka High Court. She is in line to become the first woman CJI in September 2027.
- Justice PS Narasimha: He was a senior advocate and former additional solicitor general. He will replace Justice Nagarathna as the CJI.
- Justice Abhay Shreeniwas Oka: He was the chief justice of the Karnataka High Court).
- Justice Jitendra Kumar Maheshwari: He was the chief justice of the Sikkim High Court.
- Justice Hima Kohli: She was the chief justice of the Telangana High Court.
- Justice CT Ravikumar: He was a judge of the Kerala High Court.
- Justice MM Sundresh: He was a judge of the Madras High Court.
- Justice Bela M Trivedi: She was a judge of the Gujarat High Court.
