Current Context: Bangladesh and Canada have joined the Coalition on Disaster Resilient Infrastructure (CDRI).

  • The CDRI is India’s initiative which was launched by PM Narendra Modi at the UN Climate Action Summit held in Sep 2019.
  • India’s External Affairs Minister, S Jaishankar welcomed Bangladesh and Canada for joining CDRI.
  • CDRI: It is the coalition of national governments, UN agencies, multilateral development banks and the private sector. These entities work to promote the resilience of new and existing infrastructure to climate and disaster risks.
  • Now the CDRI is comprised of 25 countries and 7 international organisations as its members.
