16th Sustainability Summit 2021

Current Context: The 16th Sustainability Summit 2021 was addressed by Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Narendra Singh Tomar.

• The summit was held by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).
• While addressing the summit, Narendra Singh Tomar mentioned that the 16th sustainability is building a resilient future that is leveraging science, technology, and finance.
• He mentioned that how GOI is working to address the various challenges faced by the agriculture sector.
• He mentioned that how the GOI is working to solve the climate change issue and its impact on farming.
• He also highlighted Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi and mentioned that uptil now 1,57,000 crore rupees have been deposited in the bank accounts of more than 11 crore farmers.
• He highlighted Kisan Rail, FPOs, Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme, and many other reforms undertaken by GOI to uplift the agriculture sector in India.
