Current Context: The Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) has developed Electric Vehicle (EV) charger.
‘AC001’ Electric Vehicles (EV) Charger-- ARAI
  • The name of the EV charger is ‘AC001’.
  • By developing the charger the ARAI aims to give a push to EV development and EV adoption in the country.
  • In order to promote EV in India, its infrastructure for charging is vital, and the mobility chargers are imported ones, so the ARAI decided to develop an indigenous EV charger.
  • The ‘AC001’ EV charger is cost-effective and was designed by considering safety norms and power standards.
  • The cost of the charger will be in the range of Rs 50,000 - 60,000.
  • It will be manufactured and promoted by Bharat Electronics. The charging points will be set up by Bharat Electronics and the parts for EV charger systems like Type 1, Type 2, CCS & CHAdeMO will be manufactured at the local level.
